A deck focused on aggressive strategies and infect mechanics would benefit from including Carrion Call in its lineup, as it provides a quick and efficient way to generate threats with infect. While Carrion Call is a solid card for such a deck, there are potentially better options like Blight Mamba or Glistener Elf that offer more immediate impact or evasion. However, Carrion Call could still see play in a deck looking to go wide with infect creatures and overwhelm the opponent.

If damage from a source with infect that would be dealt to a player is prevented, that player doesn’t get poison counters. If damage from a source with infect that would be dealt to a creature is prevented, that creature doesn’t get -1/-1 counters.

The -1/-1 counters remain on the creature indefinitely. They’re not removed if the creature regenerates or the turn ends.
