A Golgari (Black-Green) -1/-1 counter synergy deck in Magic: the Gathering would benefit from using Decimator Beetle as it helps to weaken opposing creatures while also potentially bolstering your own. While Decimator Beetle is a solid inclusion in such a deck, a more efficient option could be Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons, which generates -1/-1 counters whenever a creature you control dies, creating a more consistent source of counters. Decimator Beetle could see play in a casual -1/-1 counter themed deck, but for more competitive environments, other cards like Hapatra may be more impactful.

Decimator Beetle’s second ability can target any creature you control, not just one with a -1/-1 counter on it. It’ll put a -1/-1 counter on the opponent’s creature even if there isn’t one to remove from your creature.
