While Frostwielder's ability to exile creatures instead of sending them to the graveyard can be useful against graveyard recursion strategies, it may not be as impactful in faster-paced formats where its 2 R R cost could be a bit slow. In such cases, cards like Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning may be more efficient options for dealing direct damage.
