A deck that focuses on controlling the board with powerful permanents would benefit from including Replication Technique, as it allows for the creation of additional copies of key cards to increase board presence and pressure opponents. While Replication Technique is a versatile card, there are potentially better options such as Clever Impersonator or Phyrexian Metamorph, which offer more flexibility in terms of what can be copied. However, Replication Technique could still see play in decks looking to overwhelm opponents with multiple copies of impactful permanents.

If the spell requires targets, you choose the target of the original spell as you cast it. If you create a copy of the spell, you may choose new targets for the copy as you create that copy. Similarly, the opponent you chose to create a copy may choose new targets for that copy as it’s created. In other words, your opponent will know the targets of your original spell and your copy when choosing the new targets, if any, for their copy.
