A deck focused on creature removal and disrupting opposing strategies, such as a control or midrange deck, would benefit from including Bile Blight in its arsenal. While Bile Blight is efficient at dealing with multiple creatures of the same name simultaneously, there are potentially more versatile removal spells like Fatal Push or Abrupt Decay that offer broader utility in different matchups. However, Bile Blight can still be a solid inclusion in certain metagames where there are many decks reliant on creature synergy or swarm strategies, making it worth considering for sideboard slots or specific matchups.

Bile Blight has only one target. Other creatures with that name are not targeted. For example, a creature with hexproof will still get -3/-3 if it has the same name as the target creature.

The name of a creature token is the same as its creature types, unless the token is a copy of another creature or the effect that created the token specifically gives it a different name. For example, a 1/1 Cat Soldier creature token is named “Cat Soldier.”
