A red aggressive deck focused on tempo and disruption would benefit from using Cleansing Wildfire to disrupt the opponent's mana base while drawing a card for card advantage. While there are other land destruction spells like Molten Rain or Stone Rain that don't allow the opponent to search for a basic land, Cleansing Wildfire's ability to replace itself by drawing a card makes it a versatile option for decks looking to maintain card advantage. It could see play in certain metagames where land destruction is effective against key lands or ramp strategies.

If the target land is an illegal target by the time Cleansing Wildfire tries to resolve, the spell doesn’t resolve. No player searches for a basic land card and you don’t draw a card. If the target is legal but not destroyed (most likely because it has indestructible), its controller does search for a basic land card and you do draw a card.
