This card, Poison Arrow, would be beneficial in a mono-black control deck that focuses on removal and gaining life to prolong the game. However, there are more efficient removal spells in Magic: the Gathering, such as Murder or Hero's Downfall, which provide instant speed removal without the restriction of targeting only nonblack creatures. Therefore, Poison Arrow may not see much play in competitive decks due to its higher mana cost and limited target selection.
