**Protective Response** (2W, Instant, Convoke, destroy target attacking or blocking creature) fits best in creature-heavy white decks that consistently flood the board—such as token, Selesnya (GW) go-wide, or aggressive white weenie strategies—because Convoke lets you cast it cheaply or even for “free” while keeping mana open for development. It plays particularly well in decks that attack in numbers but still want interaction without slowing down their curve. However, whether it should see play depends heavily on the format: compared to options like **Swords to Plowshares** (far more efficient), **Path to Exile**, **Get Lost**, or even **Fateful Absence**, this card is more restrictive since it only hits attacking or blocking creatures. That said, in formats where Convoke synergy matters (such as token-heavy Standard environments or limited), it can outperform more flexible removal by being essentially zero-mana.
