This card, Settle the Wreckage, would benefit a control deck that aims to stall the game and control the board until it can establish its win condition. While Settle the Wreckage is a powerful board wipe that can exile all attacking creatures, giving the opponent basic lands can sometimes backfire. A better alternative could be Supreme Verdict, which also costs 1 less mana and cannot be countered. However, Settle the Wreckage can still see play in certain metagames where exiling creatures is crucial, but careful consideration should be given to its potential drawbacks.

Settle the Wreckage targets only the player. Creatures with hexproof that player controls will be exiled as this spell resolves.

The number of lands that player may find is the number of attacking creatures that were exiled, even if some of those creatures were tokens, weren’t creature cards, or didn’t end up in exile (most likely because one was that player’s commander in the Commander variant).
