This card, Vicious Rumors, would be beneficial in a deck focused on disrupting your opponent's hand and graveyard while gaining incremental advantage. However, for a more competitive deck, cards like Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek might be better options for hand disruption, and cards like Surgical Extraction or Ravenous Trap could provide more impactful graveyard hate. While Vicious Rumors may not see play in top-tier competitive decks, it could find a home in a casual or budget deck looking for a versatile option for disruption and life gain.

As Vicious Rumors resolves, it deals 1 damage to each opponent, then the next opponent in turn order (or, if it’s an opponent’s turn, that opponent) chooses a card in hand without revealing it, then each other opponent in turn order does the same. Then the chosen cards are discarded at the same time. Next, each opponent puts the top card of their library into their graveyard at the same time. Finally, you gain 1 life.
