About Dragon Roost
Dragon Roost, Battlefield, designed by Kudos Productions first released in Jul, 2026 in the set Vendetta.
Dragon Roost is best in a dedicated Dragon midrange/ramp deck that can reliably produce rainbow runes and wants to deploy expensive Dragons directly onto a battlefield, letting those large units immediately contest or defend an objective rather than spending a separate turn moving there; it is especially attractive if your Dragon package has strong on-play or battlefield-presence effects. Its downside is that the ability is symmetrical—an opponent can also pay the two rainbow-rune surcharge to use the Roost—so it is weak as a generic battlefield and should not be included merely because a deck happens to run one or two Dragons. There is no universally “better” replacement for its specific Dragon-placement effect, but a normal battlefield with stronger, one-sided value is generally better in decks without a high Dragon density or dependable rainbow-rune access. Dragon Roost should see play only as a focused synergy choice in multicolor Dragon decks, not as a staple battlefield.
