About Pull from the Grave
Pull from the Grave, Sorcery, designed by Pauline Voss first released in Mar, 2026 in the set Secrets of Strixhaven.
**Pull from the Grave** fits best in slower, grindy black-based midrange or control decks—especially in Limited—where you expect creatures to trade off and you want to recover card advantage over time. It can also work in attrition-focused Commander decks or sacrifice shells that intentionally stock the graveyard. However, at three mana and sorcery speed, it’s generally inefficient for competitive Constructed formats. Stronger alternatives exist: **Raise Dead** (cheaper but only one creature), **Gravedigger** (adds a body), **Unearth** (very efficient for low-cost creatures), **Victimize** (puts creatures directly onto the battlefield), and especially **Animate Dead** or **Reanimate**, which return creatures straight to play and offer far more impact. Overall, Pull from the Grave is solid in Limited and very casual recursion strategies, but it’s usually outclassed in higher-powered formats and unlikely to see competitive play.
