About Rewind
Rewind, Instant, designed by Dermot Power first released in Oct, 1998 in the set Urza's Saga and was printed exactly in 15 different ways. It see play in 2 formats: Commander and Brawl.
A control deck that focuses on countering opponent's spells and maintaining mana advantage would benefit from using Rewind in Magic: the Gathering. While Rewind offers a strong tempo play by countering a spell and untapping lands, it may not always be the most efficient option compared to other counterspells like Cryptic Command or Mana Drain, which offer additional versatility or benefits. However, Rewind could still see play in certain metagames or strategies where the untap effect is particularly valuable.
Rules
06/23/20
If the spell is an illegal target when Rewind tries to resolve, perhaps because it was countered by another spell or ability, Rewind won’t resolve and none of its effects will happen. You won’t untap any lands.
06/23/20
Rewind targets only a spell. It doesn’t target any lands. The lands are chosen as Rewind resolves.
