Affascinante Benthid sarebbe un ottimo aggiunta a un mazzo di controllo in Magic: the Gathering, fornendo capacità difensive con i token Illusione e protezione con la sua abilità di indistruttibilità. Mentre è una carta forte per il suo costo, alcuni potrebbero sostenere che carte come Torrential Gearhulk o Aetherling offrono maggiore versatilità e impatto nelle strategie di controllo. Tuttavia, Mesmerizing Benthid potrebbe comunque essere giocato in mazzi che cercano di creare una presenza difensiva in campo e proteggere creature chiave.
