Un mazzo di controllo o tempo trarrebbe vantaggio dall'utilizzo di Snapcaster Mage grazie alla sua versatilità nel fornire valore aggiuntivo riutilizzando potenti incantesimi istantanei o stregoneria dal cimitero. Sebbene esistano altre carte che possono svolgere ruoli simili, come Torrential Gearhulk o Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, l'efficienza e la flessibilità di Snapcaster Mage lo rendono un forte contendente per l'inclusione in mazzi che si basano su incantesimi istantanei e stregoneria. “Flashback [cost]” means “You may cast this card from your graveyard by paying [cost] rather than paying its mana cost” and “If the flashback cost was paid, exile this card instead of putting it anywhere else any time it would leave the stack.”
