Un mazzo di controllo o combo che valorizza la selezione e la manipolazione delle carte trarrebbe vantaggio dall'uso di Preordain, poiché aiuta a scavare più a fondo nel grimorio alla ricerca di pezzi chiave e allo stesso tempo a sostituirsi. Sebbene Preordain sia una carta solida, alcuni mazzi potrebbero preferire opzioni più potenti come Ponder o Brainstorm per ulteriore selezione e manipolazione delle carte, a seconda della strategia del mazzo e delle restrizioni sul formato. Tuttavia, Preordinare è ancora una scelta forte e dovrebbe essere giocata nei mazzi che cercano di appianare le pescate e trovare carte specifiche in modo efficiente.
