Deze kaart kan nuttig zijn voor decks die zich richten op het vroeg uitoefenen van druk en het gebruiken van burn damage om games snel af te sluiten, zoals aggro- of burn-decks. Hoewel Poison Puffcap in de loop van de tijd steeds meer schade kan aanrichten, zijn er betere opties beschikbaar die een grotere impact en flexibeler gebruik bieden, zoals Mystic Shot of Thermogene Beam. Over het geheel genomen is Poison Puffcap een nichekaart met beperkte toepassingen en die misschien niet veel wordt gespeeld in competitieve decks.
