Citadel Gate zou nuttig kunnen zijn in een tweekleurig controledeck waar mana-fixing cruciaal is, waardoor flexibiliteit bij het genereren van mana mogelijk wordt. Het heeft echter te maken met concurrentie van efficiëntere duale landen zoals Shock Lands of Check Lands, waardoor het in de meeste gevallen niet optimaal is.
