About Deeproot Champion
Deeproot Champion, Creature — merfolk shaman, designed by Raymond Swanland first released in Sep, 2017 in the set Ixalan Promos and was printed exactly in 5 different ways.
Deeproot Champion would be a great addition to a deck that focuses on casting a lot of noncreature spells, such as a tempo or control deck in Magic: The Gathering. However, a more popular alternative might be Monastery Swiftspear, which has a similar effect but with haste, making it a quicker threat on the board. Whether Deeproot Champion sees play would depend on the specific strategy and synergy within the deck, but it could definitely be a strong choice in the right build.
