Disruption Aura zou bijzonder effectief zijn in een controle- of tempodeck dat tot doel heeft de belangrijkste artefacten van tegenstanders te verstoren en tegelijkertijd de aanwezigheid op het bord te behouden, omdat het hen dwingt te kiezen tussen het opofferen van hun artefact of het betalen van de manakosten, wat op de lange termijn belastend kan zijn. Er zijn echter aantoonbaar betere opties zoals Pithing Needle of Sorcerous Spyglass, die geactiveerde mogelijkheden van artefacten kunnen uitschakelen zonder de onderhoudskosten, of Stony Silence, die kan voorkomen dat artefacten helemaal worden geactiveerd. Hoewel Disruption Aura een rol kan spelen in nichescenario's, wordt de effectiviteit ervan vaak overschaduwd door deze meer veelzijdige opties, waardoor het minder gunstig wordt in competitieve omgevingen.
