Afscheid zou een sterke toevoeging zijn aan een controledeck dat tot doel heeft het bord te controleren door belangrijke bedreigingen te verwijderen en de strategie van de tegenstander te verstoren. Hoewel Farewell veelzijdige verwijderingsopties biedt, kunnen de hoge manakosten het minder efficiënt maken in vergelijking met andere kaarten zoals Wrath of God of Damnation, die vergelijkbare effecten bieden tegen lagere kosten.
