Een deck dat zich richt op directe schade of burn-strategieën zou er baat bij hebben Fireball in zijn opstelling op te nemen, omdat het flexibiliteit biedt bij het richten op meerdere bedreigingen of het uitschakelen van tegenstanders. In de competitieve Magic: the Gathering-formaten wordt Fireball echter vaak overschaduwd door efficiëntere en veelzijdigere opties zoals Banefire of Expansion // Explosion, die betere schaalbaarheid of extra bruikbaarheid bieden.
