Forbidden Alchemy zou ten goede komen aan controledecks die afhankelijk zijn van kaartvoordeel en synergieën op het kerkhof, omdat het kaartselectie mogelijk maakt en het kerkhof vult voor mogelijke toekomstige spelen. Hoewel het een solide kaart is, zullen sommigen misschien beweren dat vergelijkbare kaarten als Strategische Planning of Uitzetten van een koers een directere waarde of flexibiliteit bieden. Forbidden Alchemy zou echter nog steeds spel kunnen zien in decks die de interacties op het kerkhof willen maximaliseren of die extra kaartselectieopties nodig hebben.
