Mirrorpool zou nuttig zijn in een controledeck dat zich richt op instant- en tovenarijspreuken of een deck dat afhankelijk is van het maken van meerdere kopieën van krachtige wezens. Hoewel Mirrorpool veelzijdigheid biedt, kan het worden overschaduwd door efficiëntere opties zoals Expansion // Explosion voor het kopiëren van spreuken of Mimic Vat voor het genereren van wezentokens, waardoor het minder waarschijnlijk is dat het in competitieve decks wordt gespeeld.

For Mirrorpool’s last ability, the token copies exactly what’s printed on the original creature and nothing else (unless that creature is copying something else; see below). It doesn’t copy whether that creature is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or Auras and Equipment attached to it, or any non-copy effects that have changed its power, toughness, types, color, and so on.
