De Onheilspellende Sphinx-kaart zou ten goede komen aan een controledek dat zich richt op het verstoren van de wezens van de tegenstander terwijl kaarten worden getrokken door te fietsen of weg te gooien. Er zijn echter betere opties zoals Curator of Mysteries die een soortgelijk effect bieden met extra voordelen, waardoor het veelzijdiger en krachtiger wordt in een deck. Uiteindelijk zou Ominous Sphinx spel in specifieke cycling- of weggooigerichte decks kunnen zien, maar het is misschien niet de optimale keuze voor competitief spel vanwege de sterkere beschikbare alternatieven.
