Een controledeck gericht op het verstoren van de spreuken van de tegenstander zou baat hebben bij het gebruik van Render Silent in Magic: the Gathering. Hoewel Render Silent een solide tegenspell is die de spreuken van een tegenstander voor een beurt kan uitschakelen, zijn er aantoonbaar betere opties zoals Cryptic Command, dat meer veelzijdigheid biedt met extra modi. A spell that “can’t be countered” is a legal target for Render Silent. The spell won’t be countered when Render Silent resolves, but that spell’s controller won’t be able to cast spells for the rest of the turn.
