About Windrider Eel
Windrider Eel, Creature — fish, designed by Austin Hsu first released in Oct, 2009 in the set Zendikar and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.
Windrider Eel would be a strong addition to a blue-based tempo or control deck that focuses on playing multiple lands per turn to trigger its Landfall ability consistently, allowing it to become a potent threat with its flying ability. While Windrider Eel is a solid inclusion for such a strategy, more competitive decks may opt for cards like Tarmogoyf or Delver of Secrets, which offer more immediate impact or versatility. Overall, Windrider Eel could see play in casual or budget decks looking to capitalize on landfall triggers and evasion.
Rules
01/10/09
The landfall ability triggers whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control for any reason. It triggers whenever you play a land, as well as whenever a spell or ability (such as Rampant Growth) causes you to put a land onto the battlefield under your control. It will even trigger when a spell or ability causes another player to put a land onto the battlefield under your control (as can happen with Yavimaya Dryad’s ability, for example).
