Puncturing Light seria benéfico em um deck White Weenie ou Aggro em Magic: the Gathering, onde a remoção eficiente de pequenos bloqueadores ou atacantes pode virar o jogo a seu favor. Embora Puncturing Light seja uma opção de remoção decente, cartas como Path to Exile ou Swords to Plowshares oferecem opções de remoção mais versáteis e poderosas, tornando-as melhores escolhas na maioria dos casos. No entanto, Puncturing Light ainda pode funcionar em metas específicos onde a restrição de 3 poderes é relevante.

A “blocking creature” is one that has been declared as a blocker this combat, or one that was put onto the battlefield blocking this combat. Unless that creature leaves combat, it continues to be a blocking creature through the end of combat step, even if the creature or creatures that it was blocking are no longer on the battlefield or have otherwise left combat by then.
