Earlier this week, Legends of Runeterra announced a hotfix to the game to reign in some of the domineering forces in the meta, just before the Eternal Runeterra Open on this weekend, June 10th.
The move came two weeks after the beginning of the Eternal Ranked Season, the third month of the game's set schedule. As a reminder, the Eternal Ranked Season is a way for players and devs to feel how the meta is developing in the Eternal format before the Eternal Runeterra Open happens.

Exceptionally, this cycle will also have two Eternal Runeterra Opens, due to some issues that happened with the first two Runeterra Opens two months ago, at the beginning of the cycle. The Eternal format, which was introduced with rotation, is a format that includes all cards available in game, unlike the Standard format, which has a select rooster of cards to pick from.
At the start of this set cycle's Eternal Ranked Season, which began May 24th, ten new "variety" cards were introduced, as well as several balancing changes to revitalize the format. Among them, the card Concurrent Timelines was reverted, meaning it was once again 1 mana.
Though it did take a week for players to test out all the new features and changed cards, eventually it was very clear that Timelines was once again an outlier in terms of raw power. At the end of last week, players in tournaments were bringing triple Timelines lineups, and the play-rates of decks which included this card were at record levels both in the ranked queue leaderboards and the competitive scene's stats.
As usual, competitive and casual players alike made their feelings about the card pretty clear on social media.
The complaints were well-heard by developers, as a revert of the revert was announced on Monday, and went live today, on Tuesday. Concurrent Timelines, as of the writing of this article, is once again 2 mana, and hopefully will not dominate the Eternal Runeterra Open this weekend.
