A deck that focuses on sacrificing creatures or has a theme of -1/-1 counters would benefit from including Festering Newt. However, there are more efficient cards that offer similar effects, such as Cauldron Familiar or Plaguecrafter, which may be better options depending on the deck's strategy. Festering Newt could see play in a casual or themed deck, but may not be competitive in more optimized or fast-paced formats.
