Introduction

In this article, we gathered the top 5 most broken interactions in Standard nowadays. These combos are extremely strong, so they're dominating the ranked queue!

I'll also show you the decks that play these interactions and give you a few tips if you want to improve your performance with them.

Rex + Sunken Temple - Ezreal Nilah

Ruined Rex was quite forgettable for a long time - that is, until Sunken Temple came along.

The Ruined Rex + Sunken Temple combo was incredibly strong in the last Eternal competitive season, particularly in Twisted Fate Nilah. It is now available in Standard.

This is how these two cards interact: you'll draw more than 6 cards with Sunken Temple and then play Ruined Rex to activate its Cannon Barrages six times. This, in turn, will level up your Ezreal.

Ezreal Nilah came along on the very first day this season started as an answer to aggressive Jinx decks, as well as Ionia lists that play many landmarks, like Lee Sin Viktor.

However, this deck is no longer that popular because the entire meta is focused on beating this list.

This archetype will most likely become relevant again in a few weeks, after the meta moves forward.

In any case, this deck is powerful, plays an incredibly strong combo, and demands respect. This is definitely one of the strongest interactions in the game nowadays.

Moon Weapons + Plaza Guardian + Aphelios Viktor

Aphelios Viktor is becoming more and more relevant competitively, and is currently one of the most popular lists in tournaments. And all because it includes one of the most broken interactions in this meta: Aphelios' Moon Weapons and Plaza Guardians.

Plaza Guardians' stats are incredibly strong for this meta, which is full of Shadow Isles decks. Only Vengeance and Death's Grasp can answer these units.

With Aphelios' Moon Weapons, your Guardians can heal your Nexus with Lifesteal or even deal 7 damage to the enemy Nexus with Overwhelm. Because of their Quick Attack, they'll always come out of combat on top, no matter the matchup.

This means that, once this combo is in play, your opponent will hardly be able to do anything, unless play a Vengeance on your Guardian.

Otherwise, Aphelios Viktor will be ahead for the rest of the match!

Mordekaiser + Mageseeker Inquisitor - Mordekaiser Demacia

One way to beat Shadow Isles is to play Shadow Isles with Demacia and focus on Suppression.

Mageseeker Inquisitor + Mordekaiser creates a snowball that will be extremely difficult to deal with because, whenever you revive your Inquisitor with Mordekaiser in play, you'll give a Suppression to your opponent.

This way, they won't be able to play any spells and won't be able to remove your Inquisitor from the board; the only way to deal with it, then, is with Challenger units.

This is one of the strongest interactions in competitive settings as well because it is great not only against Shadow Isles but all other meta decks. Every deck plays cheap removal spells nowadays - the only decks that don't are Lurk and Vex Nocturne. Even Rumble Draven will struggle against Suppression.

Bladebound Berserker + Magical Fettering

Once again, we have to talk about Suppression. This time, we'll discuss the interaction between Bladebound Berserker and Magical Fettering.

This combo also locks down your opponent's hand with Suppression, but the most significant difference is that, with Bladebound Berserker in play, you'll be able to do this earlier.

Berserker doubles any slow spell you play on the board, as long as it targets allied units. So, besides locking down your opponent's hand by doubling Magical Fettering, you'll also give more health to your units, which will improve your board overall.

Morgana's and Udyr's kits are also more consistent and fit this game style a lot more when compared to Mordekaiser lists. That's why Berserker occupies a higher spot on our list.

Mordekaiser + Aloof Travelers

This is, currently, the most broken interaction in Standard. Mordekaiser Kindred is the best deck in the meta, both in the ranked queue and competitive tournaments.

This combo draws you cards while forcing your opponent to discard their cards. More specifically, it discards their most expensive cards, so they'll most likely run out of resources later on and will eventually lose the game because they lost their main win conditions before they could play them.

As long as Mordekaiser is on the board, you can keep killing and reviving your Aloof Travelers as much as you can. This way, you'll constantly discard enemy cards and eventually discard all the cards in their hand. You can even win with a deck out.

This interaction killed Vex Nocturne and destroyed the reputation of nearly all Midrange lists in the meta right now. Because of this combo, the entire meta is now being forced to play decks that don't lose to this interaction - at least until the next rotation.
