About Drop Bear
Drop Bear, Creature — koala bear horror, designed by first released in May, 2026 in the set Unknown Event.
Drop Bear would fit best in a Gruul (red‑green) midrange or stompy deck that plays a high Forest count and possibly leans into Bear tribal (or changelings like Universal Automaton / Realmwalker) to scale its power, using it as a surprise flash threat and removal spell thanks to the fight trigger; it’s especially appealing in casual Commander builds like Ayula, Queen Among Bears, where it can function as both interaction and a large beater. However, in competitive formats it’s likely outclassed by more efficient options such as Questing Beast (immediate impact and evasion), Ulvenwald Tracker (repeatable fight), or even Wicked Wolf / Kogla, the Titan Ape as stronger fight-based creatures, since Drop Bear depends heavily on board state and does nothing if you lack Forests or Bears. Overall, it’s flavorful and potentially strong in the right shell, but probably a niche or casual-play card rather than a competitive staple unless a dedicated Bear- or Forest-heavy strategy becomes viable.
