About Riverguard's Reflexes
Riverguard's Reflexes, Instant, designed by Lucas Graciano first released in Jan, 2026 in the set Lorwyn Eclipsed. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.
Riverguard’s Reflexes fits best in aggressive white decks—especially go-wide aggro, white weenie, or Selesnya/Orzhov combat-focused builds—that want to push damage, win combat, or punish blocks while also untapping a creature for surprise defense or additional synergy (such as with tap abilities or pseudo-vigilance plays). The +2/+2 and first strike make it a strong combat trick that can swing races or remove larger blockers without losing your creature, but at two mana it competes with more efficient or flexible options like **Gods Willing** (protection and scry for one mana), **Brave the Elements** (team-wide protection in mono-white), **Valorous Stance** (protection or removal), or even **Loran’s Escape** (cheap protection plus scry), which are often stronger because they protect against removal rather than just winning combat. As a result, Riverguard’s Reflexes is playable in Limited or budget/casual aggressive decks, but in competitive Constructed formats it is generally outclasse
