Introduction

Are you returning to LoR in 2025 and can't decide which deck to play in Standard? Well, then this article is for you! Below, you'll find a few "different" lists that became quite popular on the American server recently - mainly because they've been performing so well.

These decks won't show up on any stats websites because they're "homebrews". This means they're completely original decks, built by players who won a lot of games in the last couple of days. Let's see them!

Lucian & Lux: Illuminated - Aggro Swarm

This deck and its unusual region combination was created by "thiagopangare", who got around 114 LP on the Standard queue in the last few days with it.

It is made of a bunch of cheap cards, Lux: Illuminated's Spirit mechanic and kit, and Noxus spell buffs. Together, they form an extremely fast and solid deck.

The most important card in this list is Arena Battlecaster, which buffs all attacking units by +1/+0. This card represents this list's game style perfectly, "swarm". This means you'll only win by numbers, so try to have more units in play than your opponent at all times.

The secret behind this archetype is developing units on your opponent's turn, and always "open attack" when it's your turn (this means the first thing you'll do on your turn is attack).

This list is extremely easy to play and understand, which is why it is the first list I recommend to any returning players who want to play something simple with cards they already have.

Mecha Yordles

This Draven Rumble list was built by "Luffy69", who got around 366 LP on the Standard ranked queue in the last few days with it.

This archetype is very popular, and has become even more popular in the first few weeks of the current rotation. It is also one of the strongest lists in the format, but, because of how slow and homogeneous the meta has been in the last few months, it slowly disappeared and stopped appearing on stats websites.

I highly recommend this deck if you enjoy clever setups and "unusual" cards.

The main idea behind this archetype is putting pressure on your opponent with Rumble by attacking several times with him and leaning on his strong keywords. Depending on the matchup, your opponent won't be able to do anything to stop your Rumble, and this means that, most of the time, your chances of winning will increase monumentally once you put him in play.

Create Mecha Yordles in your hand when you discard cards to keep creating value and developing the board with strong units. Pick Dunehopper Mech whenever you can because it is the best Mech Yordle in this strategy. It might cost 5 mana and be a bit heavy compared to other units in this deck, but it is worth it in any matchup.

If you manage to build a large board, Trumpetecher is a great option. It will give all your units +1/+1, so try to use it to win the game as fast as possible. Under no circumstances pick Salty Spinner.

Ramp Volibear Trundle - Demacia

This ramp list by “Tu4VRFnHjgnlpffO” got around 148 LP in the Standard ranked queue in the last couple of days.

It is a new version of the Eternal ramp archetype, which currently might be the best LoR deck "of all time". This is just the Standard version of that archetype.

Before the Eternal ranked queue opened, this archetype didn't exist in Standard this way, and ramp archetypes in general weren't that popular. This list only became popular in the last week with Lord Eldred, Mageseeker Leader and Cithria, Lady of Clouds as finishers. Cithria, in fact, will be your main finisher.

The early game is a lot better and consistent because of Troll Scavenger, which is one of the best cards in the game in terms of stats and cost (in the best-case scenario, a +3/+4 for 2 mana).

The idea behind this deck is to get more mana as fast as possible, control your opponent's board, play giant units, and win with the value they create on your board. It is extremely simple, so, if you enjoy safe decks that have great matchups against most opponents, I highly recommend this list.

Lulu Zed - The Good Old Times

This timeless list by "Xczude" got around 141 LP in the last couple of days in the Standard ranked queue.

Lulu Zed is one of the oldest lists in the game. Now that it is 2025, we can say it has existed for over 4 years, as Lulu was released in August 2020.

This timeless deck brings classic mechanics and is the purest representation of what an LoR deck is. It was forgotten for some time, but now has popped up again.

The main game plan is to play units with "Support" effects. When you attack with them, they'll activate their effects and buff allies or give them a keyword. Usually, these buffs will be enough to make your allies immune to any removal, or protect them from dying to your opponent's blocks.

This list also plays Ionia, which is the best region in the game if you want to protect your units. This means it includes the best protections in the game, like Twin Disciplines and Deny.

One unusual card this player added to this archetype was Royal Decree, a spell which, so far, has never seen play. It finally found its niche, and has performed well in this archetype.

Aphelios Lux - Celestials

This deck, built by "Xandy095", got 108 LP in the last couple of days in the Standard ranked queue.

Celestials are one of the most diverse archetypes in the game. Throughout LoR history, it took on many different forms, so this is just another.

This version is slower and focuses on removals. The main idea is to exhaust your opponent's resources, and remove their units and landmarks, all while you get ready to play giant Celestials at the end of the game.

Eventually, you'll have more resources than they have, and this will be enough to win the game. Particularly after you play a giant Celestial with Elusive and Spellshield, like The Great Beyond. These cards will be powerful enough to end the game on their own, but you need to survive the first few turns to play them.

I highly recommend this list if you enjoy challenges and complex lists because it is hard to pilot, and any mistake can cost you the game. You'll usually lose the game because of your own mistakes instead of anything your opponent does.

Lux fits this version really well because she is very well-positioned in the Standard meta right now. She is a very solid defensive unit with great stats, and also can create a snowball effect in a few matchups.
