Introduction

Braum Revna, the Lorekeeper is out of control, and is currently the best deck in the meta. It is also the most popular list in the entire game, and has one of the best win rates in the entire meta.

Very few strategies can beat this deck, as most popular meta lists lose to Braum.

In this article, I'll show you a few decks that can beat this scary Freljord/Targon list so you never lose against this strategy in the ranked queue ever again!

Braum Revna - How Does It Work?

Before we discuss how this new strategy works, let's see its main win conditions.

This deck includes the traditional Freljord early game package (Omen Hawk + Yadulski Snowdog), and all the best Freljord defense spells, including Troll Chant.

These cards, on their own, are already enough to make any strategy extremely strong.

The main idea is to buff the cards in your deck and your hand, and then play these low-cost, yet huge units constantly, turn after turn.

Thanks to Yuumi's "Attach" ability, you'll always be able to recycle buffs and keep your units strong, even after you lose one of them. This makes this deck incredibly consistent early on.

This list also heals a lot and can absorb a lot of damage in many different ways. It is an excellent strategy against most aggro decks in the meta.

Not to mention, this deck also plays alternative win conditions, like level 2 Zoe and Celestials. These cards make this list even better at the end of the match, as then it'll be able to compete with the value created by other control decks in the meta.

Counter Strategies

Let's see which decks and strategies are great against Braum Revna.

Swain/Norra and Swain/Illaoi

Noxus Control is the best list to deal with Braum because it is one of the few decks in the format that can destroy damaged units with cheap spells, like Scorched Earth. Overall, everything this deck does is great against Braum Revna's main strategy.

As this Braum list deals a lot of damage to its own units, you can use Ravenous Flock, Scorched Earth, and other damage cards much more easily.

Swain Norra, in particular, also Transforms and Silences units with Minimorph, which is great to stop the late game units Braum Revna puts in play.

The Illaoi version is a bit different, but its game style is almost the same. You might find this matchup a bit harder because the main idea behind this deck is to fight for the board with your Tentacle, and kill enemy units this way. This can be complicated if you can't find the right cards to play on the stack and beat your opponent, like Ravenous Flock and Scorched Earth.

However, you probably won't struggle in this matchup because this deck is built specifically to beat this type of strategy.

Shen/Lux: Illuminated

This version of this iconic deck was also built to beat this matchup. It is one of the few decks in the meta that was born as a direct answer to Braum Revna.

It might be a direct counter, but you'll still struggle to finish the game with just the Barriers and buffs from Lux: Illuminated. The issue is that the Braum list buffs its units faster than Shen Lux: Illuminated, and, in general, their units will always be stronger.

You'll win the game because Braum can't kill your units, and, eventually, you'll buff them enough to beat their units when you attack.

You'll always have the advantage on your attack turns, and there's absolutely nothing that Braum Revna can do, unless play a Three Sisters or a Targonian Tellstones to stop your attack.

Another version of this list that works really well against Braum is the original Fiora Shen. This matchup is a bit more complicated, but it is still extremely favorable to Fiora Shen.

Classic Fearsomes

The classic Fearsomes list is great against Braum Revna.

Braum Revna might heal a lot and block Fearsomes rather well, but it doesn't play many units on the board and takes a while to buff their units to actually begin blocking Fearsomes efficiently.

This means that, though this list has the tools to stop Fearsome attacks, it always seems a bit late. They're always one or two turns late to play the resources they need to deal with this opponent.

Not to mention, Braum can't do anything against The Harrowing.

Fizz Samira

Fizz Samira is a bit off-meta, but it is a great Rogue deck and answers Braum Revna really well.

As this deck plays many Elusive units and deals a lot of Burn damage, you can easily play your cards and combo all the time uninterrupted.

Braum Revna only plays strong cards that don't interact with the board directly, so Fizz Samira is free the entire match to play riskier, slow lines that create a lot of value later on.

Braum Revna is so slow that you'll be able to combo perfectly whenever you want.
